policy and strategy

The Austrian government focuses its development cooperation policy on the areas sustainable development, poverty reduction and peace and human security. NGOs have a traditionally strong role as implementing organisations of government policies. The Austrian government strongly seeks to coordinate its development cooperation with the EU member states.

implementing organisations

The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) was established in 2004 as implementing organisation of the government. It is also the competence centre of the Austrian development cooperation. ADA aims to work closely with NGOs, and its regional offices are in constant and direct contact with numerous partners.

ÖFSE is the Austrian foundation for development research. It provides information, analyses and consulting focusing on the following topics: Austrian development cooperation and assistance, international development cooperation, education, sustainable development and poverty reduction strategies.

Various NGO platforms exist in Austria. Beside the national platform, Arbeitsgemeinschaft Entwicklungszusammenarbeit, we find several church related and an Austrian EU-Platform.
